Income through freelance(mttvv)

Income through freelance writing is only possible when you’ve done the research, you’re willing to put in the time and your target clients are similarly willing to pay a reasonable price for your work. Finding those clients can be hard because you can’t rely on the publisher’s or agent’s marketing budget, so you have to rely on your own efforts. But freelance writing doesn’t have to be the hassle you may fear; there are some things you can do to make your income through writing be much easier. Take Advantage of Freelance Platforms I think this is the most underrated thing in my opinion. You don’t have to write anything by yourself, you can employ people to help you do it. Here are a few to consider. My client list includes a lot of writers, like Joe S., but not a lot of marketing experts. So I hired Market Rank to do the heavy lifting for me. I tried to run AdFreak but didn’t like the interaction. I try to stick to individual, highly targeted accounts, like Sunbelt Mobile and Dr. Steven Waller, but I found myself over-reliant on the Sunbelt Mobile account and I do get new accounts sometimes. Market Rank makes it easy to hire skilled writers. I’ve got a lot of copywriter types, including a former ad agency copywriter, an account exec who worked for Dr. Steven Waller and a marketer. And I’ve hired freelancers from the site Top Sellers. I don’t have to worry about overpaying for freelancers because I can get a good price for them. If you write a few articles on your own and I get a few clients then I’ll refer you to Marketing Freelancer. Exclusivity: Sell to a limited audience I love exclusivity. Sometimes you can’t get enough clients so exclusivity makes it easier to get more clients. I recommend writing for sites like ProBlogger and SEOmoz because they’re so topically specific that I think they give you a pretty specific audience, and if you give them good articles and you’re good at promoting them, they’ll keep promoting you. For example, I write for ProBlogger, and their article writing guidelines are super helpful. I also write for Webmasters and SEOmoz. It makes it easier for me to pitch a lot of different clients at once. And when it comes to affiliate marketing, many people prefer exclusivity. For example, you’re not going to want to write for Expedia unless you know a lot about travel so you can promote it well. But if you don’t specialize in travel, you’ll get stuck writing affiliate posts about travel or restaurant reviews or whatever. Exclusivity can be one of the keys to making freelance writing work for you. Set Up a Subscription I don’t think you need a subscription model for freelance writing – you’ll get people to hire you because they want a “free to read” article – but sometimes you’ll need a recurring payment model. I suggest having a certain minimum monthly fee and charging a few cents extra per article. You can make the extra few cents worth it if you offer exclusive content, for example. You can build a service around this subscription model. I recommend sending an email when you have a new post ready to go. People can subscribe to your list and get new content by clicking the “Subscribe” button. But if people aren’t into that, I like to have a signup form where people can sign up for a free trial and get the latest article for free. If you can’t generate enough income through subscription payments, then consider selling autographed copies of your blog posts. Speak at Live Events This is a powerful way to bring in business. You get to meet new people, you get to introduce yourself to them, and you get to leave a lasting impression on them. I enjoy speaking at conferences. You get a private setting where you can really hone your presentation skills. But you’ll have to book a flight and hotel before you can see a return on investment. But you can usually make enough money to cover the travel cost and make a decent profit. If you aren’t a public speaker you can also look into speaking gigs through the Internet. You can sell your articles on platforms like Zenpundit, but for more people, I recommend LearnStorm. Paid Marketing Tools These are tools I recommend if you’re trying to run a business on the cheap. They’re not much, but they can make a huge difference to your income. The biggest expense in freelancing
